I've been going crazy searching and reading posts about larger wheels, inertia, mass, centripetal and centrifugal forces, ahhhhhhhhhh!! I want to put some nice wheels on and I have changed my mind 100 times now because it all confuses me, some people say bigger, heavier wheels slow you down. Other say, it's really not that big of a deal. But, I realized, I'm not planning on taking my car to the track, or making it a 6 second car. So, F@ck it. I'm getting some nice wheels. Now, I've been searching, and losing my mind, over size and offset and spacing and spokes, etc. I saw a post about someone asking about fitment and whatnot and someone said to post a pic because the spoke design might make a difference. So, that's what I am going to do and see if you guys can help me. First off, I have an NA. 1990 2+2, maybe that specifies something I dont know. I know I dont have to worry about clearing the HICAS, but I am putting some big brakes up front which I was told I needed to have at least 17's to do so. So, right now I have 19x8.5 F and 19x9.5 rear. I dont remember but I think its +30 F +35 R. They RUB LIKE CRAZY! I have Eiback lowering springs. Everytime I hit the smallest bump, the back rubs. Sounds like someone is scraping the side of my car with metal claws. So, I want to go down to 18's. Here are the wheel choices I have found and some pictures. Let me know what offset you guys think will work.
18x8.5 F +35 18x9.5 R +35 Weighs about 28lbs each
18x7.5 F +42 18x9.5 R +35 Weighs about 25lbs each
18x7 F (offset unknown) What should it be ? 18x9 F +12 18x10 R +30 and finally,
18x8.5 F +35 18x9.5 R +35 These are the wheels I have found. Are the offset's okay ? What SHOULD they be for these sizes? I'll probably run 245 fronts 275 rear tires. I dont think that matters much. If I get the gold rims, I was thinking of going with 17x9 front to give it a more drag look, but not sure if that would change the offset too. I've tried searching and I am more confused now than when I started, so hopefully this post can give me a more specific, simple, layman's term answer. You're help is appreciated. Happy Holidays !!
